Age: 41
Hometown: Morgantown, West Virginia
Family: Husband, three cats
Occupation: Newspaper Copy Editor
Fitness level: Intermediate
Collecting videos since: 1994, when I moved to an area with no gym, swimming pool or track nearby.
Number of Videos Owned: If I hadn't sold, traded, or given away videos periodically, I'd have about 150. I have about 25 now.
Other Fitness Activities Walking
Current fitness goals: Firm up arms, abs, and that area between the buttocks and hamstrings -- cellutite city. To do this, I'll need to burn some fat as well as tone the muscles.
Loved ones' opinion of video habit: My husband thinks it's annoying if I'm working out in "his space," but my cats love it when I work out on the floor. They've taught me some incredible stretches!

Lilly's opinions:

Current Favorites:

Cardio: Crunch Master Class Aerobics
Jane Fonda's Lean Routine
Charlene Prickett's Low-Impact, High Intensity

Total-body toning: Crunch Turbo Sculpt
Ballet-cize
Ballet Workout I

Spot toning: Tamilee Webb's Quick Toning Arms and Abs
Denise Austin's Gold Series Thighs
Donna Richardson's 4-Day Rotation

Stretch: Yoga Journal's Yoga for Beginners
Reebok Versa Stretch
The Firm 5-Day Stretch

Favorite Instructors

Jane Fonda
Leslie Sansone

Underrated:

Body Song Oceans of Joy (I used this video when I was working day shift and my husband was on night shift. It was quiet, but gave a nice total-body workout at a beginner level).

Biggest Disappointments:

Anything by Kathy Smith except "Secrets to a Great Body." She is uninspiring and boring.

Also, "DonnaMite." It got such good reviews I thought there was something wrong with me. So I forced myself to do it once a week for a month. Then I put it on the exchange.

Would love to see:

Longer, more relaxing cooldown/stretch periods. That's always been my favorite part of a workout, since I started in 1979 doing "Dance Aerobics" at the YMCA.

Words of Wisdom:

Do videos you like. Don't be swept up in fads, or refuse to buy a Denise Austin video just because others thing she's a dingbat. (Of course, if you don't like her, don't buy her videos.)

If you want to burn fat, do videos with 45-plus minutes of cardio 4-6 times a week.
