Pointers from Heidi Tanner
by Sharon Muha
I had my personal training session with Heidi, Saturday afternoon
after the master class. I knew I'd be exhausted so I decided to
ask her about floor work and the proper form for it rather
than going through a strenuous training session. I've
never liked floor work in the past (I don't like the floor work
tape from the classic volumes) but I absolutely love the work
in Hare with Tracie Long. Once I started doing that floor work,
I tried the stuff in FIRM Cardio (Strong Heart) and liked it too.
I wanted to make sure that I was doing everything correctly
because I don't want to mess up my back from doing floor work
incorrectly and I had a bad experience with my back several
years ago from doing floor work. At the time, my muscles were
probably really weak and I wasn't strong enough to do it, but
no matter what, I figured getting form pointers would be smart.
I bought a Resist-A-Ball a couple years ago since
I was having back problems because I heard there were some good
back exercises using it. I'd never actually inflated it
because the tape I got wasn't advanced enough for me. Once Heidi
found out I had one of those balls, she gave me several
exercises to do with it and boy could I feel it. She said she
loves using them and she thought it was neat that someone else
actually owned one. She seemed very excited about being able
to give me exercises to do using it.
